Eng Manager: Lyft or Square
I have two offers: Lyft: M1, TC: 470k (225 base/860 stocks / 30 sign on bonus) Square: L6, TC: 420k (205 base / 780 /20) Lyft compensation is better but with everything that's going on in ride-sharing feels risky. I loved both teams and both managers. It seems like at Square I have a better opportunity to grow. But it's difficult to say for sure. YOE: 13 / 4 in management Update: Interview experience: Lyft: 1. Call with a hiring manager 2. 1st onsite: system design and two management/leadership interviews 3. 2nd onsite: system design, two more sessions on management/project management/ leadership. Square: 1. Call with a hiring manager 2. 1st onsite: system design, coding (pair programming) 3. 2nd onsite: system design, coding, 3 sessions on management/leadership etc.

Our VP just assured us there will be no layoff this morning. Maybe he is lying or you have more information than he does.
I have been in companies were executives promised no layoffs. 2 months later even the VP was let go. Sometimes even they don’t know. It’s all driven from the board.
