Engineer manager struggle

I had a good career as a SDE with companies such as #ibm #oracle #samsung #Cisco However midway through my career I became a SDM and I loved it when I got promoted and few years post that. But now I have started hating what I do. Mainly just navigating politics over technology, navigating budget over systems . I want to get back to coding as IC again Any fellow blinders in the same boat ? Any advice ? TC - $280k YoE - 13

I have applied , problem is I haven’t done hardcore SD for the last 5 years and while i am comfortable doing LC medium and to a certain extend LC hard , I haven’t gotten interview calls . I am assuming because i am applying to IC roles with SDM background

Why telling them that you are working as SDM, just tell that working as Engineering leader/lead Engineer. I have people report to me but I mostly do IC role.
