I always see the threads asking for TC / Roles advice and the TC offered by FANG and big tech companies. Rarely or never see sales TC questions. Anyone can give insight into what TC looks like for sales...at MSFT, Google, FB, or even start ups. Im in account management - strategic accounts. TC: 165k NJ Options vesting over 4 years...but dont really count on them.
My company is a hybrid...from start-up to $2B valuation. There are no levels. What title/role would equate to L65? And I’m individual contributor, base 85k most money from commission. OTE 150k
L65 is above senior. Director in Microsoft sales parlance.
There are typically two types of IC folks on a sales teams. One has individual quota responsibility and has a lower base, higher incentive. The other is usually a pooled sales resource with a team quota and a higher base lower variable comp. Typical L65 specialist at Microsoft might have a 155 base and OTE of $300k+. Plus annual stock of $35k. Hit your numbers plus accelerators and your making $400k+. Miss your numbers and you’re below $300 with no stock either. Miss them two years in a row and you should look for a new job.
Spot on. Depending on size of company and quota you can expect $200-400k ote typically 50-50 or 60-40 plans. And you need to be seasoned in career or a rockstar to get the upper level AE roles. Very competitive.
