How’s the engineering culture at Disney streaming? TC220K 5YOE
Hiring is likely frozen given the recent news.
Surprised this wasn't outsourced to TCS
Hiring freeze is in effect. Current applications and interviews seem to be going through, but offers need to be approved by a VP.
hi there! I passed the onsite and have been waiting for my offer to be approved. Do you know how likely and/or when it may go through? This is for streaming
Hi - any idea how long it would take to determine if its a business critical position. I received positive feedback from the interview but the role needs approval.
The engineering culture is good. I might call it great. The technical challenge is high, the excellence is high, the expectations are high and the support and comradery is high. Theres internal conventions/talks and people love to share and lift each other up. That part is all amazing. The weakness (and there is a weakness) is leadership and vision. They are severely lacking. SEVERELY lacking. I'm hugely optimistic this will turn a corner with Iger and the recent public news, but make no mistake it NEEDS to turn the corner. If leadership can assert itself and provide vision (ANY vision at all) then this group is going to eat Netflix and HBO and everyone else's lunch for a long long time. But... engineering ain't the weak spot. Leadership is. I'm proud to be part of the engineering team among these peers, and if you end up here I sincerely hope you feel the same.
Agreed on all of it. The company desperately needs a vision, and a leader the company believes in. We definitely do not have that in Michael Paull or Joe Earley. I had hoped Alisa Bowen will be able to take the reins, but we haven’t heard a peep from her as far as I’ve seen. Which is insane — to not even have bothered to send an email to the company, have a town hall sharing your vision, nothing. I don’t know where they’re coming up with these people.
Ima just add I disagree on all of these except lacking vision. Basically engineering here is trash. Good work life balance and decent pay are keeping me here :) just my two cents.

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
I’m having an impossible time getting an interview - they seem frozen. Did you get one?
Yeah, they moved me to the final interview stage.
