Google used to be driven by engineers. It's now driven by short-sighted finance vultures and is now a conventional company. After all, the company has over 100k employees. The old college-like culture didn't scale as the median age raised, and as cultures from Amazon and Oracle blended in. Is there somewhere else I could go that has the same old Google college-like environment. Doing things that matter, not just what increases short term stock prices, and have decent TC? SWE, 10 YOE, TC 380k
Nah, that doesn’t exist anymore. That culture was just a side effect of low interest rates, considering your relatively low YOE you didn’t actually know what the business world looked like in a normal or high interest economy. But this is the new normal, it’s unlikely we’re ever gonna see an economy like we had ever again, it’s likely decades away if it ever returns
It'll return. Perhaps not for SWEs, but for the next big career.
I doubt there will be a “next big career”, again big tech being a “big career” was just a side effect of low interest rates.
How about snowflake
Do you actually know anyone that works for one of Musk’s companies? I suggest you ask them what it’s like lol
My friend loves working at Tesla.
