Should I marry a lazy girl?
What’s the benefit for the poor family? Just show me: 1. Number of graduates vs failures. 2. Median STEM test scores. 3. Number of acceptance to top tier schools. 4. Number of students receiving outside help like RSM or Kumon. 5. Number of bullying incidents. Why lower school ratings with bullshit & subjective criteria? Don’t you agree? #housing
The equity score is useless and complete BS! I don’t even look at it. I completely ignore and remove it. Most parents want the best for their children, and if you can set them up for success by sending them to a great school where students are more likely to perform better and there are more amenities or resources for them to succeed so that they can get into a good college. If that school has a higher likelihood of setting my child up for success, I don’t care if that equity score is a 0. I also imagine most other parents don’t care because if they did, these schools who have high performance ratings and low equity scores wouldn’t have as high of an enrollment as they do now and they certainly wouldn’t be highly touted by these parents.
I only speak English and this is confusing. No context to agree or disagree.
Pay up for a private school or Pay up for Cupertino Schools. The real problem in Ca is that the schools are under funded. Most of the country has a solid school system..how is that funded? Via property taxes levied on homes. Prop 13 will forever ensure a lack of funding. But one day everyone's kid will be punched in the face, figuratively or literally, so being exposed to the real world is a good thing.
Why would how many kids get outside help or median stem test scores matter to me? Equity score is very important because it shows if there’s huge discrepancy between the SAT scores of low income and high income students in a school, so as a poor family you know which school would benefit the low income families the most. It doesn’t mean much if the whole school is rich folks with high test scores that’s a given most of the time. Obviously it doesn’t matter to you cause you work at apple and could care less if low income kids succeed but don’t phrase this as you looking out for poor families bs -Signed, a former kid living below the poverty threshold who graduated magna from Harvard
How does the equity score is calculated? If the school collects all that stats, it will show if they actually did a good job or they didn’t do anything and just let parents do all the work through extracurricular activities, which is a well off family kind of game.
Also just wanted to add, it doesn’t not make me feel good to know my kids classmates don’t have enough to eat and that sort of thing. So higher equity score is a healthier school environment for everyone’s emotional health.
