I have been Amzn L7 and MSFT L67 and got potentially down leveled to M2 at GOOG. Just got promoted to D1 at Google...FB recruiter is wanting to put me in M2 loop - is that correct or can I ask for D1? Looking up M2s at FB on LinkedIn I see several MSFT L65/66 and Amazon L6 join as M2 so feel I should be interviewed for D1 and not M2. I understand that even if the initial rsus are high for M2 the diff in refreshers for M2 vs D1 is about 400k so it makes a huge difference between the two
Yeah, unless you really have a burning desire to be at FB, I wouldn't take the down level. I've taken the down level on a move before and regretted it.
Amazon L6s do not even get interviewed at M1 let alone M2. Also if you are a d1 at Google don’t go at M2
You don't know what you are talking about. It happens all the time.
L6 SDM to M2 never happens. L7 SDN to M2 happens all the time yes
Recruiter is pressing for M2 since I was M2 at Google until now
That sounds bogus. At FB, promotion philosophy is that they are lagging, i.e. that you're already operating consistently at the next level before you get the promotion. If G has the same philosophy, then that should be evidence that you've already proven yourself. That said, leveling is a crapshoot. My last cycle had me levels as M1 at FB, M2 at G, VP at a small (< $5B cap) public company, and L68 at MSFT.
just insist? it doesn’t make any sense as Google’s requirement to get to D1 is you already consistently performed at D1 for a year. If the recruiter keeps pressing probably better to change a person to work with.
Thanks
@OP, any update? did you finish M2 loop?
Recruiting is probably pushing you to M2 because the recruiter is hiring M1/M2's. the recruiters that handle D1 are a different set of recruiters. How do you know they're M2 on LinkedIn? there's no title that says they're M2. Even when I look at titles in all the internal tools, I can't tell if they're M2.
If you're D1 at Goog why would you even consider moving to M2 at FB?
