Telecom gear maker Ericsson plans to cut about 1,400 jobs in Sweden as part of a broader plan to reduce costs globally, the firm said on Monday. Any info on this ? Ericsson is not doing that bad to make layoff in their HQ. Will this get to other locations as well ?? 90k usd
The layoffs are already happening in MANA and from the message of GFGO head, I assume all MAs are impacted. The goal is to be proactive in reducing costs possibly due to the fact that our customers are forecasting to reduce their spend. Declining revenue..rising costs..risk of meeting the commitments to the shareholders and expectations of analysts... you get the idea!
Ideally companies cut costs at high value centers first resulting in socialist country offices on target for firing , that way they could fire few and impact will be more and fired employees are taken care by government. Also having strong currency of your country compared to let’s say a country where currency is very weak where your company also have office shows a contrasting picture to management who are tempted to fire from high currency value company. ( e.g. Sweden vs. India) for sure 1 Swede position equals 3 Indian positions so fire from Sweden and if required to hire , get them in India.
