https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/03/glassdoor-adding-users-real-names-job-info-to-profiles-without-consent/ "This month, though, she abruptly deleted her account after she contacted Glassdoor support to request help removing information from her account. She never expected that instead of removing information, Glassdoor's support team would take the real name that she provided in her support email and add it to her Glassdoor profile—despite Monica repeatedly and explicitly not consenting to Glassdoor storing her real name." "Although it's common for many online users to link services at sign-up to Facebook or Gmail accounts to verify identity and streamline logins, for years, Glassdoor has notably allowed users to sign up for its service anonymously. But in 2021, Glassdoor acquired Fishbowl, a professional networking app that integrated with Glassdoor last July. This acquisition meant that every Glassdoor user was automatically signed up for a Fishbowl account. And because Fishbowl requires users to verify their identities, Glassdoor's terms of service changed to require all users to be verified." Glassdoor has been slowly enshittified (platform decay), and with this betrayal of user privacy, its demise is ensured. Fishbowl seems like a zoominfo clone, and we should probably avoid it at all costs.
Who tf uses glass door now ?
Probably the olds.
Gotta end that onboarding training somehow...what better way then leave us that positive review!! Pizza after !!!
Their data is hilariously bad because they require you to report data to view other data. For FAANG I’m convinced every data point they have is just someone curious about FAANG salaries so they report bogus data just to view other people’s bogus data 😂
This!
That’s what I did!
Wait like they're putting a person's real name next to their reviews? 😂
No, but they're storing the real names in their databases, which means real names could either be leaked, hacked, or subpoenaed. Or maybe some software bug could accidentally replace initials/pseudonyms with real names.
They’re also harvesting your real name from public sources, joining it to your email or other identifiers and then updating it on your account. So if you put John Smith or Rajesh Kumar, they’re going to find your email address in some database and then update your account to your real name.
Reviews there are BS, too. I worked for a company that had bad reviews deleted. Hundreds of them. It was an absolute toxic hell but they had 5 stars and rave reviews. There was a marketing person in charge of Glassdoor reviews 😀 Her job was to add positive reviews consistently.
Do you think the companies know who posted the bad reviews?
No idea. It wouldn’t surprise me if they did though.
Good thing my glassdoor account uses a burner email and fake name in profile. But that is an idiotic change.
I do the same. This is the way.
Yes glassdoor removes bad reviews. I posted about ny experience and when it didnt appear i emailed support. They gaslit me and said it was there and sent me a specific link you are not able to navigate to from their main conpany oage. I read glassdoor accepts payment to remove reviews a conpany doesnt like
Yelp also does it.
The first company I worked had a freaking onboarding task to add glassdoor review.
Name the company!
Thanks. Had an account i havent used since ages. But had put negative reviews of my ex employers
haven’t used it in over a year. Last thing i remember about that site is the login form doesn’t even work. I never trusted that site and I just opened to check, Ive given fake details lol
Imagine Blind putting your work email as your username....💀
The amount of desperate people needing to find a new job in 60 days. Guess all that hate wasn’t good for you after all 😂
You might as well become a monk and move to the mountains...
