Trying to evaluate Series D SWE offer In HCOL area 168k base 10% bonus 5.2k options/4 $15 strike $40 current price (Equity worth 130k/4 right now) 1.4b valuation as of November 2020 Company growing 2x every 2 years Current 250k TC in LCoL area. If I transferred to same HCoL that would be ~280k How would you negotiate if you had this offer? I think equity is really low, I would like it to 2x for me to consider offer, but I’m not sure if that is possible.#equity #startup
In a similar spot right now. Equity seems low but it’s series c and growing 4x a year.
Yeah I’m wondering how much typically people can negotiate up equity for startups, I think I’d need 10k options to accept.
Yeah like I think it’s unreasonable to ask for the equal dollar amount of equity I get at Amazon but right now they are offering me around $20k of equity per year. If they actually keep 4x though that’s obviously a big payout. It’s hard to figure out
The later you join the less equity you will get.
Really? I thought it would be exactly the opposite 😳🤔🤯
Wait OP are you being sarcastic? Of course joining later means less equity. Because early employees get lower base and had to navigate much more uncertainty
