Evaluate my Cloudera Staff SWE Offer
Base: 225k Joining Bonus: 100k over 2 years Stock(they call them stars): 16000 units over 4 years ( Each star is currently evaluated at $10) - can sell 50% at the end of 3 years and remaining at the end of 4 years. TC year 1 and year 2: 275k + 15% expected annual bonus (around 33k) TC year 3 and year 4 - 305k + 15% expected bonus (if the evaluation remains same) Is the year end bonus guaranteed? What is the percentage range for this bonus? Is this a good time to join Cloudera? Also is the evaluation expected to increase? Which part(s) of this compensation should I negotiate in terms of probability to get a significant increase. Will be great if Cloudera folks can advise about the future of the company. YoE: 6 Current TC: 220k

Not sure about Cloudera but you can make 600-650K as staff elsewhere.
Their levels are inflated, staff there is equal to senior at other places

Don't get fooled. STARs at $10 doesn't mean you have X by $10 value. It's an option, essentially. You will need the unknown private stock to appreciate ABOVE $10, and only this difference above is your value. So no, you haven't gotten $160K in stock. You received papers which will cost you $10 to liquidate, with an unknown upside.

How is the JB lockin clause , 50k immediately and 1st year end 50k. What happens if you leave after 12 months? You loose 50k or even has impact on first 50k
Its 50k at end of first year and 50k at the end of second year
Annual Bonus is actually paid on Quarterly basis. 1st Joining bonus you’ll receive on your first pay check and 2nd one you’ll receive after complete 12months. If you leave after 12 months, you’ll have to pay pack on 2nd $50k, pro rata basis. Stars, they will create E*trade account for you. Company so far is super chill! PS: Recently Joined
Is that true? I heard 24 months prorated even for first jb. So leaving after 13 months need to pay 50k + 25k?
