I have been in the embedded space for the past 10 years, mainly media (audio/video). I have been feeling bored in this space because it has been a lot of rehash and not much new development. Before Tesla I was working at Apple where a lot of the code was already defined and I would be responsible for building new features on top of an existing stack. I have managed to rebrand myself out of drivers and more of a generic system engineer. I have 2 job offers at the moment, both at FANG companies. One is embedded/OS space. The other is Facebook Bootcamp, where I would be a generalist engineer (going to aim for a Product team if possible). If I go into the embedded/OS space I would build on what I have done in the past (hopefully not media and a different tech stack). If I go to Bootcamp, it would be all new work. What is the better option here? TC: ~370k. YOE: 8
Worked in embedded space for the past 10 years with YOE 8?
Oops, that 10 should have been 8. Thanks for catching that.
With that strong background, i wouldn't mind trying something new. You can always get back to your core competency if you change your mind later.
Oculus, OpenCompute, Infra at facebook builds cool shit.
