Every company are aggressively moving jobs to India

This is very similar to US corporations moves manufacturing jobs to China two decades ago, what would happen if this trends continues with tech jobs as well? I believe there is no way a US SWE 4x more expensive than an India SWE can be 4x more productive, so at the end either global pay gap shrinks a lot, or most US corporation will move their development center to India. What do you think here? It seems like there is only a dark future for US tech workers

Lies Meta has no DC in India

Meta 3rdDayIDK Apr 9

Has this not been the case for a very long time? Why haven't they done this in the past? And why the sudden change?

Meta fishtank🐟 OP Apr 9

Yes, but in the past, it was only lower tier companies doing it. Starting from this year, lot of FAANG level companies + many top startups started doing it too, like Google, Microsoft, Uber, Stripe. Meta is probably the only FAANG company that still hiring heavily in the states and not moving head-counts to india.

Entrepreneurial and design work happens in the US. I don't have a problem with low-level coding jobs moving to India, it has been going on for 20 years.

It is all levels of coding+design job

It's a loop. If coding moves abroad, eventually higher aspects will also move there and USA just becomes a consumer of tech services with no development or research here. Exactly how it happened with manufacturing. Your R&D for the next version/iteration depends on lessons learned from coding/manufacturing. If the lessons are learned overseas, then higher aspects have to move there too eventually.

Don't worry folks, it's an open secret that any FAANG or similar companies move the most irritating, burdensome, maintenance work to India centre. All interesting projects even if started in India are eventually moved to HQ just like bubble sort.

Companies offshoring means impacted jobs which means impacted economy means poorer market means less money for them.
