I would like if anyone left the company, they would miss the centralized place for doing all company related tasks. Communication email messages blah blah blah, calendar appointments, TC 170 YOE <1 #culture #officelife #workplace
I found the Terminal UI clunky and not intuitive. I don't miss it at all.
I don’t know why anyone would *miss* the terminal unless they’re a trader and love the data or analytics … anyone in Eng would probably pay not to use that UI
Nope
From the GD perspective - there’s a lot of folks ive worked with (many of whom have moved on from bbg) that like using the terminal for their own market/investing research and the ones that didn’t have the terminal at their next job do seem to miss easy access to the large range of datasets
Yeah that’s the part that makes sense to miss, the free data and analytics we have access to
Sounds like you're on some koolaid if you think anyone would miss 80's style terminal vs modern day work place tools everywhere else. Only advantage of terminal is non work related and doing personal investing.
What kinda of functions do you look at for personal investing? I mostly tend to look at analyst recommendations and feel like it’s gotta be better than that.
I rather not share my investing methods but I never follow anyone's recommendations.
I miss the APPT "here's a group of people; find the next time slot that they can all meet" functionality; new employer's GApps setup doesn't have that (at least not that I could see) I also weirdly miss PWHO? Knowing who to bother about stuff was super useful But every aspect of DRQS/PRQS/SDSK sucked ass and I don't miss it
That's basic outlook functionality. Terminal just has outlook integrated but it's a bit easier imo when using the schedule assistant on outlook. Google apps still lacks a lot of features for workplace tools. PWHO is a nice functionality, that's something I wish my new job has.
Finding a mutually available time slot is a core part of Google Calendar.
I miss people actually using IB, i could contact anyone of any rank in a more personal way than an introductory email. I guess it depends on how your next company uses slack/chat. Though I'm happy to no longer be worried about pings when i get up to make myself a cup of coffee. I didn't realize how much I used the market data for my own use. I had a terminal for years before I finally got a job at bbg, so my ritual of getting up and checking the market and knowing how the day was going to go has been very weird to give up

Why would anybody miss that? We’re all here to get paid, not get sentimental about collaboration tools
Uh.. it’s ok to miss using certain tools
We will always remember you have clippy's blood on your corporate hands. Every time I need to write a letter I shed tears.
