Ex Cisco at FAANGesque companies?
Would like to know distributon of those currently at FAANG or similar tier companies and was previously at Cisco.. Did Cisco help or hurt you to put in the resume? I have been getting fked for last 10 months by recruiters auto rejection and frustrating as hell! And Im wondering if Cisco is hurting my resume.. tc 170 2 yoe

Crazy hype for fang even after insane layoffs, pips. Cisco was like fang back during dot com. Look what happened. So companies have life cycles and fang will be Cisco tier and other companies will take their spot. As it stands today, I don’t see much difference between Cisco and fang. Both belong to shit tier. Tier-1 should be Hft(citadel etc), ai companies like nvidia, Tesla. May be few other like snowflake, mongodb and others disrupting distributed storage
Does FAANG ever do annual layoff like Cisco other than this one of layoff due to recession? How can you honestly say we are same tier? I stopped reading your comment moment you mentioned Tesla being tier 1, which took a long sentence to get to..
I have friends in Fb being let go. I even know someone that joined Cisco from Fb. Whoever are surviving layoffs and not happy either. If you don’t believe me, hope this thread stays for few years. You will revisit and see how things changed. We got a small demo back in late 2022 when fang bottomed out. Things change, they happen to be abrupt. Look at Csco in 2000s/dot com. Technology phase out or growth expectations slow down. Stock collapses and then gets stable. All euphoria regarding company dies
I like the culture at Cisco. There's no hustle culture in my team. No toxicity, no super aggressive deadlines. Pay is not top notch but I can live with that for a while because mental peace counts.

Google hired aggressively from Cisco in India. Cisco culture is better but pay is crap.

Amzn didn’t care. Apple liked that Amazon was on my resume cause they never talked to me while I was still at Cisco.
How long ago was this? And did you apply directly at Apple or got reached out by Apple recruiter?. I heard you cant get an interview at Apple unless someone reaches out to you 🥹
Amazon was 2020. Apple was last year. I had my resume in apples system because I had recently applied to a job. Then a bunch of teams just started reaching out. But that was only after amazon was my current job
