On LinkedIn I come across numerous profiles that have “Ex [Insert FAANG]” in their headlines. These are generally folks that once worked for FAANG but are now at a high growth start up or some other lesser-known company. Why do people do this? It reads like they’re not proud of the company they currently work for and want others to think they’re high caliber because they once worked at FAANG. What’s the deal?
It helps them both in hiring and shows good team strength in front of investors. Once the startup is big enough, I have seen people let go of that Ex-* title.
Anyone doing DD would go deeper than just the tag line lol. The point it's that it's obnoxious to put ex-[company name]. Makes it look like you're living in the past
Sounds like someone couldn’t get a job at FAANG ^
Do you not believe that someone that’s ex-faang is granted more credibility?
The TechLead did this 😂
As a millionaire
Not doing so hot I guess. Barely hanging on his YouTube channel, coming up with "edgy" things to say for the views and likes, most of it is so dumb that not even him believes it.
Because boomer investors think EX-FAANG means guaranteed success
Well in all honesty if you worked in FAANG for 4+ years your a millionaire. Some people equate money to success
Boomer Investor? The entire deluded millennial WSB was jerking off because Gamestop hired an ex-Amazon dude
I am Ex boyfriend
Lol
Perception. World thinks these are better people . It's like certification or graduate degree.
It's actually better than your degree. I've seen Stanford graduates go by ex-Google engineer rather than "Stanford engineer"
😂
I kind of get the idea, but things like "SWE at Google, ex-Amazon" still puzzle me…

Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
Having worked for faang helps them raise funds better. So putting that is a norm.
Hasn’t almost everyone worked at fang by now?
No??? Lmao come on
