Exit opportunities for Walmart GPMs

Hi all! Was wondering if any Walmart folks here might be able to share typical exit opportunities for X6/ GPM level PMs. Are they able to move to FAANG/ Microsoft type tech companies and retain manager levels? Or would they go back to being ICs? I’ve heard some folks say WMT has title inflation which is accounted for by tech companies as a down-level. Thank you! TC: 350k

Yes on title inflation. If looking at amazon, definitely expect a title downgrade and/or IC level scope.

This is correct. I know multiple people who got a downlevel

If you mean downlevel in terms of Staff PM to Senior PM, I agree -- but do you think that would hold true even for GPM?

For FAANG, most likely yes.. I know folks at X7 who joined G as IC but their scope is pretty wide and most likely, they'll be leading teams. Amazon doesn't always do a down level - depends on the experience. Are you only looking at FAANGs?

Thanks for sharing! Could you clarify what you mean by IC leading teams? Indirect reports? Like leading engineers and designers on a project? And yes for the purpose of my evaluation I’m thinking about Walmart level vs FAANG as I’m assuming for mid/ smaller companies of there won’t be a down level.

I mean an X7 from Walmart joined as a first member of a team and will need to build a team for an area. Only talking about product hierarchy and not the engineering/design one here. But I'd suggest that such things are subject to change given the team one is being hired for. Bottomline - there may be a down level but it depends on the person/profile as well. Btw, for non FAANGs, there may be an up level too :)

Meta, G - Down level is almost a given. Amazon - Down level may or may not happen. MS - WMT folks maintain managerial levels. In fact, I know so many of them who got a higher level moving to Microsoft.
