Hey Guys, as the title suggests, I am expecting an offer from Navy Federal Credit Union for the role of - Production Support Engineer: Machine Learning Operations. After talking with the HM, I am sure enough that this role works for developing and deploying Machine learning models into production. Also, developing Datasets, EDA Notebooks, Fraud Detection, Analysis, etc. HR reached out and asked for a Salary Range: I was targeting $120,000 to $150,000 for my Base Pay. He mentioned that you can expect something near the lower end of the range. I am thinking he will come up between 120K to 130K. I would like to negotiate: 130K to 140K, with a Joining Bonus between 10K to 20K. Any ideas about how can I proceed to make my case? There's an Annual Bonus which ranges between 15% to 42% depending on your performance, company's performance and manager is the one to decide the %. Current Role: Data Engineer YOE: 4 years. TC: 105K Expected Role: Production Support Engineer: Machine Learning Operations Location: REMOTE (But will switch to Hybrid: Virginia) #data #dataanalytics #datascience #negotiate #negotiateoffer #salary
It’s a low offer for ML engineer. But non tech usually don’t pay like tech companies. If you really want to increase your TC target tech companies.
So for base pay, what should be the Target? On levels.fyi, I can see that $135,000 is the Average BASE PAY.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Seems like incredibly low TC for a ML engineer.
Okay, So he mentioned that he can provide BONUS of 5K to 10K, with the BASE PAY and then the Annual Bonus. So I would like to AIM for 130K to 140K as BASE, 15K as joining Bonus and then the Annual Bonus. Any suggestions on this?
