(Sorry - reposting as a poll, and to remove the tag for the other company) Hey all, I'm a newbie to the field (recent bootcamp grad) and am in need of some advice. I recently passed Expedia's onsite and was ranked as a SDE I. I'm scheduled to meet with a hiring manager next week (3/21) for a potential team match, but my recruiter told me the hiring manager also has 2 other candidates he wants to consider. Meanwhile, I just received a written offer this morning from a large supply chain company (WWT) for a remote, mid-level full stack developer role at $126k/year + $3k bonus, and they want a decision by this Wednesday the 15th (with potential to extend the deadline). I already tried to expedite the process with Expedia, but since the hiring manager is considering me and 2 others, there's not a lot we can do. I think I would love working with the folks at World Wide (everyone is so nice), but I already know that my heart is with Expedia (basically a dream company for me). I live really close to their Seattle campus, I walk past them several times a week when I go for my walks and I've always thought the campus was gorgeous. The hybrid setup would be no issue for me (in fact, I'd prefer the hybrid setup since this would be my first role in the industry). The other company is based in the Midwest, so I'd be doing stand-ups at 6:30am every morning (I'm not a morning person). I think having Expedia on my resume would be an amazing career boost as my first official role in tech. Plus, I'm a lot more passionate about the travel industry, the product, and the tech stack at Expedia. However, the Expedia recruiter told me that it could take a couple months for me to get matched if this team didn't move forward with me. She said I would stay in their system indefinitely and I'm closer to the top of their waitlist, and said she knows that a few positions for SDE I will open up later. I don't mind waiting it out for Expedia if it's only gonna be 1-3 months of a wait. I can always sell some stock to cover living expenses in the meantime. However, my friends (also recent bootcamp grads) are concerned that I could potentially remain on Expedia's wait-list for closer to a year. They all say I should take the other company offer and immediately renege/resign once I get a written offer from Expedia. I'm hesitant to do that to this company because they've all been the nicest people I've encountered throughout my job search. Plus I wouldn't want to burn any bridges. But at the same time, I can see where my friends are coming from. Times are especially uncertain right now, and I wouldn't want to be stuck on Expedia's wait-list for longer than 3 months. What's the likelihood it'll take several months to get matched with a team in Expedia as an SDE I? Would you guys accept the offer from the other company and renege/resign as my friends are suggesting? Thanks in advance for your help! Whats the compensation for Expedia?
No offer until a hiring manager wants to match me to their team. But based on levels.fyi, it looks like the recent average is around $124k base, $167k TC for my level. Versus $115k base, $118k TC at World Wide.
I highly doubt you get 167 TC as SDE I at Expedia

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Your recruiter is doing a good job at level setting with you. I was in a similar position last year with Expedia. It's too ~4 months and 4 team matches before I got to get an offer from 2nd team i met with.
Wow, thanks for that insight! It's very helpful to hear your experience and manage my expectations accordingly. How long did it take between meeting with the 2nd team and receiving an offer from them, if you don't mind my asking?
I should have mentioned part of time land around a holiday, so that added to my timeline, but total 5weeks
