Expedia going candidate shopping.

A week after 6 round of interview, this is what recruiter replies back. "Thanks for checking in. We’re in the process of meeting with a few more candidates. I hope to have an update late next week. Thank you for your continued interest in Expedia." So Expedia, either the candidate met your bar or not. What's with the window shopping??

Flipkart cqoc67 Aug 2, 2018

That means you didn't meet the bar.

Why move from Amazon to Expedia? Just curious.

Amazon fnuLnu OP Aug 2, 2018

Not me. I am super happy with Amazon. Roomie is not on blind yet.

Cerner asdftvf Feb 21, 2019

You seem to have too much time on your hands.

Amazon fnuLnu OP Aug 2, 2018

Of course... But why shying away from saying that the candidate did not meet the bar.

They are deciding if they should settle yet if they are losing tons of people

Uber tapp Aug 2, 2018

If it was FANG, this would be a straight no, as you were probably close, but right under the bar. Since the HM at Expedia knows it’s hard for them to attract talent and this seat is probably urgent to fill, they will try for a few more weeks, complete a few more interviews before potentially lowering the bar. But don’t hold your breath.

Oh hey! I got news for you, you can go company shopping too. In fact, most people do. What’s the difference??

Amazon fnuLnu OP Aug 2, 2018

Difference is the expectation. A candidate is supposed to respond in a day or two but a company can hold off and set up new interviews??? As a candidate your motivation is good work life and great pay check. As a company your motivation is an employee who will be successful and loyal. You lose both if you make it explicit that you are candidate shopping.

You’ve never told a recruiter you have other offers when negotiating compensation?

Amazon WACC Aug 2, 2018

It's like Seattle dating for single men. You match with a woman online, and you message her. She doesn't write back for 3 days. It takes her 1-2 days to respond to each one of your messages. Finally, you get her number. After a few weeks, you finally set up a date. You wait excitedly, but she arrives 30 minutes late. After about 45 minutes of drinks and casual chit chat, she tells you that she has a big work project due the next day and needs to get home early. You kiss her on the cheek and walk home. Meanwhile, once you're out of her sight, she logs into Bumble. 978 matches. She sends the same message to her top 5 favorites: "Hey! I know it's totally random and I have work tomorrow, but....I REALLY need to get fucked hard and raw tonight while you pull my hair, talk dirty to me, and then cum inside my mouth. Haha. I'm so not a slut and almost never do this but a gal needs to let loose once in a while. Lol. Hit me up." TLDR: Expedia is just not that into you.

Amazon fnuLnu OP Aug 3, 2018

DUH!! Then why not say it... Its not like Expedia is getting anything (free drinks) by holding off...

Qualcomm Kimjeller Aug 3, 2018

They are getting a backup by holding off. So they are getting something. Get it? I know it sucks but move on and dont or too much hope.

Is this the norm though with Expedia??

Being indecisive is the norm

Yep totally the norm.
