Expedia to LinkedIn

Been at Expedia for the last 9 months and interviewed with LinkedIn. Ended up getting a new grad offer at LinkedIn. Should I go to LinkedIn now or should I stay at Expedia, get promoted in few months, and interview again later? TC hike at expedia sde2 might be 150-170K total I want to move up the ladder fast :) Expedia TC: 138k LinkedIn new grad TC: 180k yoe: 9 months giving reason for choice is appreciated #swe #linkedin #expedia #engineering #newgrad #career

OP, do you mind telling me which position did you apply for at LinkedIn? I couldn’t find any new grad positions. Perhaps I too can do the same as you in future.

Level only maters at your current job. Take the TC hike now, no guarantee on promotion otherwise

Level does not across companies?

There is much for you to learn, young padawan. For this, I will suggest staying and learning more first.

What about position?

AFAIK, it takes 2 - 2.5 years in LinkedIn from SE - Senior SE (they don’t have an SE2). Not Facebook fast, but not bad

Locations may be a factor. If you need to relocate to Bay Area

LinkedIn has jobs mostly in Sunnyvale, if your Expedia offer is for Seattle then don’t leave as in California you have State tax plus cost of living is higher. I would say do a whole year and then try agin at different companies, you should get more than $200k TC after few more months
