Expensive meditation courses

I have been practicing meditation through Art of living for many years now but mostly I go for youtube videos or free meditation apps. I want to enroll in a course to learn advanced mediation but whenever I check Art of Living or Isha Foundation courses they are always out of my budget ($400+) Why are these courses so expensive? Making them expensive just makes me think is the institute even legitimate and really care about human wellbeing or just the money.

You have been practicing meditation through Art of living for many years and you are still asking if they’re legitimate and not focused on money? Wow! I went there for a few months after paying for their basic course and the constant push for outreach (basically sell their courses) really bothered me way too much to abandon them for good. The instructors have been brain washed big time. They not only work for free but also pay AOL money for so called advanced courses and sometimes a lot of money because you need to take the same course multiple times because you’re not deemed good enough to attend a course.

I like the experience of mediation but the institute charging extravagant amount for each course is something I doubt.

If you read my post it says it is “expensive”not that I don’t want to pay. I have paid tons for SKY, Silence course but to continue the rhythm of learning, one has to learn and practice and every time paying $400 is not affordable to all.

Few excellent and cheap (or voluntary fees) ones: - Goenka’s Vipassana (the 10 day induction retreat is the best way to immerse oneself into it) - Shinzen Young’s (he has distilled his teachings into See Hear Feel, also available on BrightMind app for a subscription). - Insight Meditation Society (Mahasi Sayadaw’s noting method) I do realize that my recommendations are all for insight/awareness/calming type than performance (attention etc).

Have you tried searching on Google for "vipassana courses"? There are options both in the US and in India.

What ever happened to just buying a book. Tony Robbin’s course bs has everyone and their mother trying to sell you a course these days. It was see to be that you would go to a life changing seminar and all that, but now its courses. Because people don’t buy books or read and audio books have degraded in quality because of a mad dash to those.

To meditate properly you need to be poor. The more money you spend on these courses, the quicker you will reach inner peace.
