Location? In Amsterdam, there is a brilliant prof called Max Welling. I think his group is better than most of FAIR or Google Brain. Thus depends on team. Btw I'm not in industry but have some knowledge

Have friends in that group. Research work is great. Internal tools and engineering culture is shit. Good to get research experience. They work in all sorts of dl/rl projects for Qualcomm internal teams and also outside clients
