Any experiences from anyone having left VMware recently ? I plan on telling my manager in the first week of January. The offer that I am accepting is from one of VMware’s competitors. I haven’t signed any non-compete. Am I obligated to share where I will be going? I appreciate any pointers or advise. Thanks! #notice #resignation
I dont tell my previous employer where I'm going next; no upside, a lot of downsides (legal getting involved, non-compete, might ask you to leave immediately, etc) Always say taking aome time off then deciding what you wanna do
Thanks!
Best advice
Nutanix? Unless you're a VP no one really cares. I just told them (manager, skip, whoever asked) I prefer to not share. If they keep asking then tell them they'll find out on LinkedIn.
Thanks! Not Nutanix. It’s a big tech company with some overlapping products.
Also, I am not a VP 😀 I feel people can be more nagging to lower titles and show restraint to VPs when asking these type of questions
Yea don't have to tell if you are not comfortable sharing. Just say deciding between few offers or taking time off
Thanks!
What was it like to work at VMware? How would you define the culture there?
DM me. Will send you more details
I have a trick that worked for me. I dropped 2 names (not the one what I joined) and said that am still deciding to join one of these 2 and that I will decide after a short break. I also hinted that was waiting on couple of other companies you gave which you are not sure (don’t name them).
Thanks!
They will ask but you don't have to tell them. Be prepared to be escorted
Thanks! I am thinking of saying I plan on sharing in a few days. Do you have any advice on how to handle? I feel there is a bit of bad blood (among some teams at VMware) between the 2 companies (VMware and the other company I accepted offer from). I want to make it less awkward.
AWS?
