I have been doing advisory for GLG/AlphaSights as an expert in a rather niche industry with a product management background. My rate is typically $250/hour and I get 2-3 hours per month. Recently a large public company reached out to assist with due diligence related to an acquisition they are bidding on and asked my rate for 2 days per week. What hourly rates do you typically see for niche industry experts? YOE 9 TC Unemployment

Did they reach out via GLG? Noticed you are unemployed so I'd consider making a LLC and do B2B business with the idea to eventually convert to a senior role. Think GLG maxes out at $500 an hour but if it's a direct negotiation, there might be wiggle room .
They actually booked time with another expert network and then paid for my contact info. GLG maxes out over $1k per hour but I believe you need special approval and a justifiable background e.g. C suite at Fortune 500. I ended up charging $250 an hour with this client and it was too low judging by their reaction.
Well give that M&A advisory fees can be a % of the deal, you now know to charge more. I'd say go with $750+ per hour or offer some retainer.
