Offers deadline on Monday...both are non-bay area and TC and all other factors are similar. Please, need your inputs on the prospects for: Power-perf meas/analysis engineer, base heavy (AMD) vs. Std cell library designer, stock heavy and steadily growing (Broadcom) Which one has better potential for career growth (vertically and laterally), and job mobility (desirability in chip industry)? Thank you ๐ #nvidia #microsoft #amazon #meta #broadcom #qualcomm #arm #intel #amd #apple #hardware #semiconductor #offer
TC 260 w/o sign-on for both jobs, in medium cost of living areas.
Dude, give more info for other to suggest.. like which company, tc breakdown, location, grad level, your experience etcc. From the basic info u shared, PPA job looks better
PPA has longevity compared to std cell design, IMHO. I have seen more openings for PPA compared to std cell design. Btw what are you working on currently?
My experience has been in advanced CMOS TD...at the transistor/small circuit level.
Both sux
Guess silo is the best ๐
Stdcell is already heavily commoditized
Many companies are into this field to create proprietary IP and hiring std cell designers tho... I got Qualcomm offer previously but turned down due to unsatisfying TC...
Leave PD area, itโs a crowded space
I think i know the PPA team in AMD!! Reach out to me !! Also, std cell is very soon going to be outsourced to low-cost GEO in future!!
What makes you think PD wonโt be outsourced to low cost GEO in future?
Entire backend ll be very slowly!!!
Same thing has been being said for the last decade or two, but PD still quite strong in the US...no?
Yes. Leads for advanced nodes are still in the US.
TC or GTFO
