“It's said the truest sign of intelligence is the ability to entertain two contradictory ideas simultaneously.” Mental gymnastics, like what politicians do, is an example of this. I guess it means you can fluidly abstract and manipulate ideas in your brain. It’s also the ability to compartmentalize your brain, like running multiple cores, where you have the ability to convincingly lie to yourself and believe it enhancing your ability to lie to others, while also knowing it’s a lie somewhere else in your mind so that you don’t become delusional. It’s similar to this saying “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” #Fun facts #TIL
Yeah, I want to be ceo someday but I also support work from home
I don’t want to be laid off, but I understand that layoffs are good for the economy in the long run.
Which politicians do you feel are intelligent?
Most of the big names. There are a lot of reasons they could be saying what typical people consider dumb: to gain popularity with their constituents because after all they’re “representatives” not there to sell their own ideas, the idea isn’t that dumb in reality when you think deeper like k-th order effects (politicians know this and will espouse naive ideas because the vast majority of people don’t think past 1st order effects, college students think only until 2nd order effects), their motivation isn’t to govern well or appear smart but to gain attention (familiarity effect), or they could just be genuinely dumb and they somehow made it to the big stage through highly improbable sheer luck.
Children are unable of doublethink. So either adults regressed in intelligence or doublethink is an advanced skill.
I simultaneously believe that the Earth is both flat and hollow.
Bravo! That takes a fair amount of imagination and creativity to accomplish.
It is a sign of multiple personality disorder.
Is this a shitpost
Can you provide some examples?
Liking both capitalism and communism simultaneously. Capitalism is the ideal economic system in the real world since it’s self-regulating (high entropy), communism is a moral ideal that we should aspire to but is almost impossible to implement since it’s an unstable state, a low entropy system. Valuing both freedom and authority and order. Freedom is happiness, but freedom is also chaotic, too much and you’ll lose freedom. Authority and order allows things to develop with concerted efforts. To have more freedom in the long run, you must submit to authority and order. Like a teenager who has too much freedom loses freedom as an adult by not having good prospects, so they’re stuck working a dead end job. While the kid who always studied who lacked freedom has a bright future and is able to live the life they truly want. Similarly for saving and investing instead of spending, eventually the orderly one will achieve financial independence, while the other one is stuck in a pseudo-free life.
You have a lot of bias in your views.
