F1 to H1b stamping in Canada
With no Dropbox slots available at American consulate in India, can I do my first F1 to H1b stamping in Canada? What are the pros/cons? #workvisa #h1b #dropbox

No such rule bud. Did my F1 - > H1 in Canada.
I heard that the consulates are becoming strict about this and requires you to go back to your home country

I don’t think there’s an official rule or anything but I heard from colleagues. Btw, I’m in your same situation, lmk if it works for you!
I think US is deliberately doing thus. Getting Visa stamping would increasingly difficult as US would use it as a negotiating lever with India on Russia and Ukraine. It would want Indian diaspora to pressure Indian government and this is pretty much plausible.

Do you really think US needs to pressure India? If can just donate 5 F16s to Pak and India will fall to its knees.
I’ve read this morning on blind that there is a petition to according H1 stamping within the US lands. I am not sure if you came across that, I wanted to loop in. But I don’t think any of us can predict the timeline
It takes years for a bill to pass in the US. I think it's most unlikely to happen soon.
