Typically cost of compliance is not deducted from profitability in a region but it gets deducted on overall product profitability. When American customers stop subsidizing features to make products EU compatible, EU will have no option but to tone down on regulation. Every company is prioritizing profit and if the EU can't give it, they'd move on to prioritize features for American customers who are willing to pay and the government is not as intrusive. https://www.euronews.com/next/2023/01/19/the-time-of-the-wild-west-is-over-eu-vera-jourova-warns-elon-musk-twitter-from-davos-wef
Oh those poor corporations, victim of regulations. Set them free and let them poison our air and water. They have earned the right to do that.
Or... if a company's profit margins are so thin that human-centric regulation kills their margins -- then they don't deserve to exist. Capitalism 101. Same thing with all the mom-and-pop restaurants that can't afford to hire staff from $8 an hour now. People have to accept that many of the companies we work for do not deserve to exist. Not a moral sense, but in a $ sense.
More countries need to follow the UK’s lead and exit the EU
There’s at least one social media company that told the EU to go duck themselves. They basically said the EU is gonna have to block their IP North Korea style because they aren’t even going to bother limiting access by region.
Damn the EU and their... privacy laws and mandate for USB-C universal chargers on phones!

Anything can happen behind closed doors in private companies. Regulation is required to keep those in check and fear to go haywire
