Curious to hear what other leftists think about Gallagher slaughtering his female-at-birth competitors in the 200-meter race at McDaniel High School. As mentioned, I am a leftist, but am in favor of ensuring that only female-at-birth athletes can compete in female sports. This is a real issue for me, and in the crazy left wing world we live in I am supposed to embrace this. I don’t, and it’s going to tear the left apart. I’ll never vote Republican, but this rift will get ugly if something isn’t done soon.

Indeed. While I’m sympathetic to trans athletes who want to compete in their actual gender, this strikes me as exceedingly unfair to female-at-birth competitors.
It’s a manufactured controversy by the anti-trans. The student didn’t even finish first in the competition.
Every dude that makes it into a competition means an actual female is prevented from competing, which means less chance of a scholarship and admission to college
No one was prevented from competing.
Stop competitions, give prizes for everyone playing

It’s actually a good question, and one rife with legal and privacy implications. Birth certificate, I guess. For such a significant change from birth, I believe mandating a paper trail is sensible (but admit I don’t know all the issues).
