Most of the big techs are like islands. They create their own tech echo systems. If anyone worked at more than one big techs could one please share one's thoughts about their tools (good bad ugly) and compare them? For example, I joined Microsoft from a small company and I found that the monitoring and alerting system is actually awesome. But tger deployment process is pathetic.
Amzn tools are subpar, quip makes me sad, Hubble is Ok, some of the monitoring tools are decent, chime hahaha, quicksite again hahaha…it’s hit and miss but mostly miss.
Is chime your collaboration tool like teams in Microsoft?
We typically use Slack for chat and small huddles, but larger group meetings and any video goes through Chime. The backend of Chime is solid—Slack itself uses its API for video. The interface leaves something to be desired but it’s far from the worst I’ve seen. That dishonor goes to Microsoft Lync, later rebranded Skype for Business.
Worked at meta and google. Big grep at meta is easy to use and amazing. Big grep at google is more powerful but kind of hard to learn
Whats that used for?
Code searching
It creates more problems than solutions. Abstraction over abstraction. Imo developers should be responsible for deploying their applications. Smh they say click a button and it’s done but. Its never sufficient
The more automations you do, the more rewards you get.
