I recently found Blind after completing my final interviews with FB for IC5 Data Scientist. My recruiter mentioned that they would be meeting with the VP next week to discuss and will inform me of their decision afterward. I’ve never interviewed with companies on the west coast before. Is VP approval the same thing as a hiring committee?
Usually your packet is discussed among the interviewers on the loop, if it goes to the vp typically it means that they’ve decided to proceed. Once you’re at that stage the vp could ask questions/challenge the packet but unless something irregular is there it is largely a formality
Thanks for the info! I've read that there is a debrief after the loop interviews, and then the packet is passed to the hiring committee. Is the VP meeting, mentioned by the recruiter, a reference to the hiring committee stage, or is it a separate step?
If the feedback from interviews is positive, your case is sent to two committees. One is for a formal approval and other one for leveling
I actually didn't get any feedback prior to the recruiter informing me that he is meeting with the VP next week.
Yeah they won’t share it. Wait for a few days and keep your fingers crossed
OP, did you eventually get the offer?
Is this fb analytics role? Would you mind sharing your interview experience?
It is for the product analytics role. The interview process is much more structured and organized than what I've experienced working at large non-tech companies. The recruiters give you ample material to prep for the interviews, so make sure that you give yourself enough time to prep. I wasn't actively looking but decided to interview after a recruiter reached out. I spent about 26 hours just watching youtube videos and doing practice problems. I felt like I could've done better if I had allocated more time. I have 8 YOE and had visibility with senior leadership in my past roles which helped me speak with confidence even when I am not.
Do you mind if I dm you for more details on preparation and interview process? I am preparing for first round tech interview, would appreciate any advice!
