Heard from my FB buddy saying that FB pip rate isn’t as high as Amazon. At FB: 1. You know you have to get promoted from E3 to E4 in 24 month and E4 to E5 in 33 month 2. New hires ramping up at E5 is hard You actually know if you can hit the target and if you don’t people leave by themselves and since you already passed the FB bar it isn’t hard to jump ship. So people at FB usually don’t get PIP, the ones that might get pip just leave on their own terms. While at Amazon they sometimes pip people with no signs, either you pissed off your manager or you just suck. That’s why Amazon pip rate is so high since you get caught off guard. Is this true?
yup, pip is overblown. I think it's well known amazon pip rate is worse than anywhere because it's not always tied to performance.
Amazon Hire and Develop the Best, and PIP the rest.
They should hire better than. Not a good culture.
Nah, Amazon Hire and PIP the easiest, and develop the rest
Amazon - Hire, Develop the best, pip the rest. The small syntactic change of adding a comma makes a huge semantic difference.
I'm gonna Take Ownership and Disagree and Commit with this one. Nobody talked about those FB suicides that happened two years ago, even The TechLeech talked about it.
Totally forgot about the suicide...
Amazon, Pip the best, develop the leftovers.

Does minimum YOE actually matter on job posts
Used to work at Amazon and now work at FB. At amazon, the danger is real. If you’re trying to do a good job at FB and are good at adapting to feedback, getting PIPed is near impossible compared to amzn.
