FB e7 -> Citadel worth it?

Recruiter reaching out for a while now. Can they significantly up the TC to say > $1.2M? How much of this will be a bonus/variable? Any reason this is not worth it? (I'm already working 50-60 hrs a week, so WLB is not an issue) YOE 8 (including a few as a Quant at a top tier firm in NYC) TC: ~800k (assuming $270 stock price and MA)

Sell-sided paid decently pre-2008. But in 2021, you’d be lucky to make 400K even as VP.

@QR You mean at Citadel as a SWE?

1st year unlikely to break $1M as you’re still learning 2nd year+, $1M+ is reasonable if you perform at your level Like FAANG, salary is never more than $300K. Annual cash bonus makes up the rest. Downside is your finance eng skills/domain knowledge is less transferable to other industries

Oh god! You worked that much consistently over the last few years? I can only Imagine how your health and BMI would be!

Probably has excellent relationships with friends and family, exercises every day, sleeps 8 hours each night, has amazing mental health, and a beautiful significant other. Yes, there exist people that are strictly better than you and I, in every way. Sorry if it makes you feel bad.

Anaplan tygs447 Mar 14, 2021

It doesn’t. I worked at Fb and another intense tech company. Yea, if you had a personal chef, 24x7 house help, then yeah maybe. Op knows the answer ;) if they’re really are that great at doing all the you’ve mentioned, then kudos to them.

With Citadel, it's not just the hours, but your stress level is also going to be high. First of all, it will be hard to get in. If you do, compensation will meet your expectations and more assuming you keep perform ing and don't get fired.

In my opinion this move makes no sense. At 800k you're already saving a lot. After taxes you can maybe save 100-200k more per year but there's a non-trivial chance you get fired or it's not a good fit.
