I recently gave an interview for partner engineer at FB. I have been giving Interviews for many companies and I always felt like there was something I could have done better. But this one, I thought I did spot on. Especially the technical round. It was a question from LC, I implemented two solutions not one. System design I did good as well. I just don't understand how this is a reject. I asked for a quicker response because I had another offer. Could that be a reason ? This result is very very disheartening and I don't know and can't believe how this could be true
What you said is almost correct. You are not an SDE , but a role where you work with clients and customers on their integration with FB products.
is that partner engineer, AI? work with the pytorch team?
I saw many open jobs for this position
No,.it's under seperate org in fb
Hey Op, sorry to hear that.. how did your hiring manager and cross functional interviews go? Since PE is a client facing eng role, there is more emphasis on those behavioral interviews than other swe roles. Also, there is strong emphasis on communication for your design and coding rounds because of the same reason mentioned above.
Also asking for a quicker response has no consequence on you getting an offer or not
From what I know, I did a good job on both of those rounds. I work on a role that requires a lot of communication with clients as well, so was able to give good answers to most of them. If you are not communicating 100 percent, you would be able to somewhat decipher that , not really sure how to explain that, but there would be this incomplete feeling. That was surely not there in any of the interview.
Interviews are done by humans. There could be a lot of factors that can sway the decision. I think you just got unlucky this time. Unfortunately, luck is a huge part of any interviews. I hope you get a better luck in your future interviews. Keep at it!
What’s partner engineer
It sounds kinda interesting. Seems like you work with partners on integrations with FB. I shouldn’t speak on the OPs behalf though.
