I have an offer from docusign for 400k Why work at Docusign 1. work that I like ( foundational ML infra) 2. Great chemistry with the hiring manager 3. Known for WLB ( as we'd like to start a family soon ) Concerns 1. Peer quality & eventual exit options : tbh, I don't see docusign engineers move to FAANG companies or vice versa, this is worrying me Reason for looking elsewhere MLE in Ads product: Stress, anxiety ( bad wlb, nature of work ( tuning / data analysis as opposed to coding/ model building ), lack of connection with manager & team, terrible onboarding by inexperienced lead, lack of scope / freedom in this area all these factors resulting in not doing well in my current role. This to a point where I procrastinate even trivial tasks , unable to get out of bed. Prior to my current job, I was at a start up like environment with no red tape doing foundational ml work & a lot more freedom. ( And I enjoyed the work ) this is perhaps why I am considering docusign! What Next I don't have a strict timeline & I have some on-sites scheduled ( Roku, Uber); TBH I like to work with new product initiatives but I'm not able to find hiring teams within fb that fit my description. Would appreciate your thoughts on how to tackle my concers Should I keep searching for jobs with a 'better' compromise ? Note: 1. I don't have an i140 yet and I plan to stay at my next company for 2+ years Working on ads TC: 410k + stock appreciation YOE: 7+ Level: E5 #facebook #worklifebalance #docusign #career
Bud you sound miserable at FB. The Docusign offer sounds strong. Why not give it a try?
DocuSign has been acquiring small companies and talent to ramp up their ML infra to work in a long term vision that increases DocuSign’s footprint as the document management ecosystem for companies. To me, most exciting space to be in at DocuSign. Good luck!
Why don’t you switch teams at FB? I heard mobility is relatively good at FB.
Thank you for your response, I'm trying to find a good fit within & outside Facebook . I'm more concerned whether docusign is a good choice. Esp., the exit options say after 4-6 yrs as M1/M2
Interview at better companies and move there instead?
Make it a poll
Switch to infra, people are more matured and helpful imo
With 7+ YOE how much more H1b extension time do you have left? PERM+I140 timeline is 1.5yrs. Some companies do not initiate perm until one year into employment. If there is a layoff then PERM filing gets delayed by another 6 months. Have you considered this risk? My suggestion would be to get i140 and then move unless the process hasn’t started at FB.
Thank you for your response, I have 4 yrs left on my H1B. Fb has started the process, I have heard that there is a lawsuit against fb that is causing significant delay in processing perm and i140 applications ; this is also partly why I'm looking for opportunities outside Facebook I did speak with the hr about it & negotiate that as well (im ok with 6 months or 3 months ) tbh ,this 1yr rule is arbitrary and can be negotiated :)
Makes sense. Good luck!
P4 or p5 offer?
Seems like P5
I'm a P5 at DocuSign. The reason that Docusign people don't move out is because a. It's a rising business, stock appreciate d a lot. And will appreciate more. Think more about the business. Upside potential. b. The wlb is so great. Just have no or little pressure at all. Its so important to a family man.
What level does P5 map to at Microsoft
65 to 66 I think. The yearly bonus plus refresh around that level. Scope is also similar
