FB vs Pinterest
Got offer from FB and pinterest. Struggling to make a decision. Both are machine learning engineer roles. What is refresher situation at Pinterest. I think that's the only other factor to consider, otherwise the offer looks solid
Pinterest refresh is 175k (from recruiter ) vs fb refresh 140k (from blind)
Pinterest recruiter told me that refreshers can be anywhere from 150k to 350k for the very top performers at L5
@op do you know what is the difference between ML system design vs ML Practioner onsite rounds at Pinterest?
My feeling is ml system design is more focused on "system" while the other totally depends on the interviewer. They ask detail ml questions to test if you really have hands on experience 🙂. But don't worry too much. They don't expect you correctly answer all questions. My interviewer asked lots of questions, I probably correctly answer 80%. Screwed some questions up. Some I can't recall details and I have to say I don't remember.
Pinterest offer is pretty good. Also I think it has more growth potential than FB
Pinterest is a gamble, but still better in terms of growth and learning. If you want to play it safe, go to fb.
Fb if you want learning and career growth. Also, we hire anyone with 3-4yoe as L5. Given you are L5 at G, you should have been offered L6. We offer L6 to any L5 from fb or g. Also checkout our recent hires. They are from tier3 companies and we have offered them L6 despite 5-6yoe.
Where do we check recent hires?
Pinterest is a pretty boring and also evil company in terms of culture. People are in denial about discrimination and almost killing employees. FB would be better.
Can you elaborate on whats wrong with the culture. Is this related to the recent incident?
I am not sure about evil but for sure it is boring as f**k. I am not sure how our stock price is that high.
Great time to join pinterest as an ML engineer. Fb is too big. The business is solidly set up to have great stock upside in the next few years. The work would be more challenging though than FB. So pick accordingly
@OP you mentioned TC as 36 ? Is this correct ?
