Why are you asking here?
Because I want to install my trading platform to be able to monitor/place trades once in a while. This obviates the need for me to juggle between 2 computers… I spend most of the time with my work laptop anyways (as compared to my personal laptop) lately…
I misread your question Cryptonyte, missed the “here”. Want to know what Tech and HR professionals think about my suggestion and if anyone has any stories to share
Nothing personal on work. If it’s “once in awhile” why can’t you use personal?
By “once in a while” , I meant I am not day trading. But I certainly revisit my trades every night…
Simple answer. As per your company's "whitelisted software list" or "list of approved software to use" policy, if that trading platform is included then you can use that platform. Else a clear no. And If this kind of policy doesn't exists, then it's a grey area. Depends on how strict your Infra Heads are and how often do they monitor list of running software. You might get away. Simplest Answer. Just simply don't use office laptop for personal needs. One slight mistake and an unlucky day can land you in biggest troubles.
There's a thumb rule. If you have to ask, then answer is No.
I've installed the Fidelity app on my Amazon crappy laptop, and used it for a few weeks, but it was so slow, and required retyping the password each time, that I simply stopped.
No. But why exactly would you do that? Are you working from office? I usually do two laptops and work from home
I just want my life simplified, and one laptop. Actually I would like to request everyone to please chime in thoughts on my original question (rather than we diverging to “why I need 2 laptops”)…
no but you are an idiot
a hugh jarse even
It's fine genuine question, no is the answer
No
Hi lundburger, have you done it yourself? Can you elaborate abt your response
Yes used to work at apple for 3 years. Made full use of office laptop for personal use since it was convenient from 2017-2020.
