I had a hard time since the start. They have a huge expectation from Ic5 and the first thing they told me was WE HAVE A HIGH BAR FOR IC5. As a senior you are supposed to do this and that. I am continuously reminded of this high bar no matter what i do. I worked on so many projects and successfully closed them as well. However, not even once i received any feedback on that but rather on things I didn’t do well. Normally your managers play a critical role in grooming you. But my managers were laid off thrice. No one was there to guide me or tell me how it could have been done better. My only hope was my team lead, who joined a month before in meta. This guy turned out to be nit picker. He started blocking my Diff for weeks saying code quality n maintenance like shallow words. When i asked how do i do it better? His answer was: you are ic5, figure it out. I wrote docs and he said: not good. On asking why? FIGURE IT OUT. I didn’t received constructive feedback and always rebuked for my work. My new manager is non-tech and he doesn’t even have time to discuss issues in detail. He just listen to what TL says. I asked about give me datapoints where my code sucks: HE SAID GO AND READ THE FEEDBACK AGAIN. They have now assigned me on a IC6 level project. 4 people were working on it in first half. In this half they want me to handle it alone. My manager is so serious about this project that he forced me to travel and sit with ex-project folks in a war room to finish it. I have anxiety issue and this stress is overwhelming me. I am claustrophobic in flight especially 11 hours. I told my TL i can’t travel, but he forced me to. I had saved my PTO for December. Manager showed disapproval that we need this project first. I had cancel all my year end trips. My stress is killing me. I don’t complain about stretching hours but no one seems to see how much effort i am putting. No one here to guide me and tell me how to do them right. I think joining ic5 from outside is worse decisions one can make, unless your team is good. I am pretty sure even if i complete this project i will receive negative feedback again: like “you sought out help in the project that you were supposed to do alone” . I already received one when i asked other team member to join the proejct to do TPM thing and let the execution be on me. He wanted it, and i let him. But i didn’t think that it will be seen this way. Its like playing dirty politics that i never liked. Any help here would be great. I used to be senior at Microsoft and my work there was beyond expectations. I have managed a fintech startup entire payment infrastructure all by myself. Based on my past accomplishments i am pretty sure level is just right , also i have 15 years of experience in tech which at least give me a little credit that i know how to plan, n execute work
After reading your experience I guess you were downleveled, 15 yoe at IC5 and this level work isn't justified, you should have been Ic6

Your tech Lead is not a tech lead!!! The better and good tech means will help you to correct your mistakes! It’s seems even him don’t know how!! It is easy to criticism any work but you always should give feedbacks!
Are you coming from another FAANG? How many years of experience do you have? Looks like IC5 role is overwhelming you.
The fact you were only able to give vague reasons for why your code is bad, makes me believe your TL is correct.
I had one TL under whom i worked for 4 months and his review about me for excellent . He even counted my efforts in #diffs i published. Under the new TL after Feb when old TL changed team things going down. If somebody come to you asking for feedback or comment why are you blocking diff for days and only comment you get is :: YOU ARE IC5, if i think for you then you are not performing at your level REALLY DUDE?
Document and report this behavior, and specifically frame it in how much additional time it adds to your shipping timeline to “figure it out” instead of him telling you. He sucks as a TL. TLs are supposed to multiply their peers
Meta is very competitive and people are only looking at themselves. I would rethink if that’s a culture that you like to be part of. Looking at the response from you teammates, they are not willing to help…
Pull back. Do the work that is asked and nothing more. If you think something is unreasonable, push back. Ignore the douchebags and let them PIP you out while you look for something else. Chances are that the people giving you shit are insecure and more afraid of you than anything else. Just GTFO as soon as you can.
I like your advice, worrying won’t solve anything anyways. Wish i could also avoided force flights, saying NO to that means immediate fire
