Racism towards Indians
Even with the lower wages and high COL, all of my colleagues who live in London seem much happier. And when I think about it, everyone I know who moved to London eventually settled down there. Only 1 person moved back and that was for family reasons. I can imagine that the architecture, beautiful parks and proximity to multiple travel destinations makes life more enjoyable. TC: 200K #london
You get to have Seattle winter weather year round with higher than NYC COL and taxation while making as much as someone in middle of nowhere in the US. I'm not convinced the culture is different enough to make up for the lack of money, space, and weather. But who knows, maybe you'll like it.
Dogshit weather, insanely high COL, English people, high taxes, beans on toast, and terrible traffic
No it’s basically America lite with worse weather and poor pay and higher taxes Too similar in values and outlook If you want European lifestyle stick to France, Spain, Italy etc for a very different life experience
Skip France. There are French people there
Lol no, the above comments are very legit. Shitty weather, shitty market, high COL, high taxes.
Feels like most commenters here are Indians, who seem to be pigeonhole themselves to places like Stratford east Han Ealing and then complain about the UK..
I recently moved to London from NYC. I love it. You get a massive pay cut but do not have to think about H1B and green card. You get to be in an even more cosmopolitan city where people know how to live and can talk about more than work. There are chill house parties all the time. People are closer to each other in real ways vs the american water on wax intimacy. You can travel and live well. Turns out as much as money you also need time and energy to live well.
NY or SF for money/career, London for everything else, triple that if you’re a minority
I lived in London and currently live in Toronto, honestly I wouldn’t mind moving back to London to raise a family. The grind in North America creates a burnout. I got laid off from Amazon recently and it just sucks how we are not as protected as those in Europe.
How do you like Toronto?
It’s gotten worse since covid. Rise of mental health issues, high cost of living and terrible salaries.
