Sounds like CEO has been doing this a ton recently. Out of curiosity, for leaders that have had to do layoffs of any scale, is there any emotions that go through your head, or you realized you weren't cut out for that sort of decision? I understand things aren't personal, and at the CEO level, clearly your job is about maximizing profit, but as a junior employee, I've always been curious if it's ever a hard decision
No because itās not the CEOās idea, itās the boardās. The board hires Bain or McKinsey to āadviseā the company to reduce labor force. If CEO does not comply, heāll be fired by the board for not listening to consultants.
I know, I'm asking for those that have had to oversee layoffs - excluding CEO and upper management - is it ever a hard decision emotionally, even though you have to do it or leave
Rise to the level of CEO or senior management would have already hardened you against these emotions.
Or you're just a psychopath and naturally don't have them.
Bad but true
Too bad. Broadcom got good food.
I'm in HR and have had to both do this and sit in on layoffs with managers. It is never an easy thing and is much harder than terminating someone for cause. Also, you get a lot of emotional people, crying, etc... which makes it even worse.
Any advice for us VMware sheep possibly heading to slaughter?
Lay offs are miserable, firing is fine
Is it rumor or real ? Business insider at times spreads fears
At times? Blodget's rag is as worthless as his pump and dump pitches during dot com
Well, Broadcom has a super solid record of doing layoffs right at the acquisition date. It has similar precision as āon the next presidential elections California would vote for democrat no matter who will runā
Is anyone aware of the notice period / severance Brcm gives ? How do people with visa manage ?
