I'm considering joining as a PM at Google X, but worried about job stability considering they are all early stage projects. (Currently interviewing; working on a visa) #google #googlex
@lucid motors, if you have nothing to add, please don't say anything since you don't know about someone else's personal circumstances. Job security is important for my mental health. I went through anxiety and depression last year and I'm on a visa. And fyi, you don't look smart by throwing shit at other people. It's the opposite
Wow, u really got offended by that? The world's not all butterflies and rainbows son. Maybe it was too straightforward but I'd say the same thing again even if it were my brother or sister asking this. Bay area folks apply/interview for other roles all the time, 95% of the time that ends up leading to no transition. Get an offer then we can talk is the best policy for someone like you since anxiety is the last thing you need when interviewing for your next challenge. A lot of people here are on visa, layoffs happen all the time, people get picked up fast if its from a good company like googleX , I'm guessing u already have i140 approved. Also, if they're hiring for a PM now, it must be an early stage project, so the funding from alphabet is secure for now. Well there's your elaborate answer. Good luck.
You didn't answer my question. My question is what happens when the project runs out of funding/fails/doesn't graduate. Do we get roles elsewhere within X? Graduation for an X project means it becomes its own company. My question was not about funding being secured. Why should I bother interviewing if I know it is risky. I'd rather do my due diligence early on, which is necessary for a person like me. And you think I don't know that the world is not rainbows and butterflies? I'll not stop speaking up for myself against folks like you, just because the world is so. I also don't get your logic around my timing - to get more information, which is also personally biased. Not to mention, you didn't answer my question.
Are you interviewing generally for a PM there? I think it’s specific to project? You may be able to choose a “more stable” project
Get an offer first, and then we can talk on this post.
I am currently interviewing, updated the post
Good for u, now u have a better chance of getting the right info on this post.
