You cannot make this up…
Hi I am living in usa for 15 years and have India citizenship. If i apply gor canada pr and become Canada citizen later, after that is there any short route to become usa green card or citizen? I am planning to go back to india, just wondering what are other options i can do in background. Once i have canada pr, do i need to stay there minimum month per year to keep pr status? Thanks Tc 370
Yes there’s a minimum amount of days you need to be in Canada to maintain your permanent residency.
You want to be a citizen in a country that you don't even bother to Google search ,for 15 mins ? You want to go to India, but want a spare citizenship in some random country so you can get the USA gc? None of this add up
You can stay out of Canada for 3 years, after that your PR will be canceled. If you want to take Canada PR as a security while you try if you can live in India, it's a good move. You would have mental peace of mind you have backup and can actually help your return to India plan more successful
Thanks. Yes i am looking for backup. Like when my kids wish to come back to usa or canada for higher education.
Okay you have some confusion I think. I meant if in 2 years of return to India you realize you don't like it there, you can return to Canada since your PR was approved. After 3 years, your PR will be canceled. Same applies to US green card. If you leave US, your green card is canceled if you don't live there. You need to be a US or Canadian citizen to stay outside the countru for longer times and being able to extend the citizenship to children. Green card and PR are not permanent like citizenship. It's canceled if you stay outside the country for too long. They are more like lifelong visa, but it's still a visa.
If you’re planning to go back then why are you worried about US or Canadian citizenship
I am just wondering if i can maintain any of these while i am in india?
I saw ppl in India having canada pr, but they stay full year in india
