Another round of layoffs at Motive. 5% of staff impacted. This the 3rd round of layoffs in the last year. Unfortunately I was impacted.
The company is struggling to become profitable and have several cost cutting measures in effect along with hiring freeze. That was the only indication.
Anyone in engineering impacted?
Yes several engineers
it is is interesting to see a serial layoff company like this one. What did they say was the reason this time. Definitely not Covid. Did they lose "Yellow" or JB Hunt?
The official reason was to cut costs to become profitable
This is surprising since they are scaling up enterprise sales. Was Yellow a significant customer? Significant enough that the bankruptcy matters to Motive?
Yellow corporate probably didn’t even know who they were. They’re desperately trying to go up market but large scale trucking companies don’t use KeepTruckin. They’re trying to rebrand and sling mud at competitors but sophisticated buyers see through it. The sales pitch is basically “we’re like that other company we’re obsessed with, but 50% less expensive” Wonder why they have layoffs every 6 months? They sell their product for pennies because they can’t compete head to head
This was not announced. So they are doing silent layoffs
I’m sorry you were impacted. Did you have any indication this round was coming? My team was surprised by the news. We lost many excellent, long-standing business partners. Sr exec communication cited SMB Sales as the most affected, but it seems to have hit every department in the org.
