TL;DR - Not getting an offer even after performing well on my interviews. I am working at Intel India and I have not learned anything new in the last 2 years at my work. So, I started to look outside last year. My first few interviews were very bad and that’s fine, it gave me a taste of the interview patterns. I used those feedbacks to prepare hard. I tried to learn everything. You just name the topic and I have studied it. FSM, RTL, CDC, Computer Architecture, FIFO Design, Arbiter Design and what not. I am from design but still I learned topics like STA just to make sure I am not missing anything. After learning all these topics, I was confident and my interviews started to go good but to no avail. I gave interviews at Samsung, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Google, AMD, Marvell. I have reached till 7 rounds for some of these companies but none of those got converted to an offer. Most recently I interviewed at Meta. Everything was going good, I was happy with my performance. I believe I could convert it. In the feedback for full loop interview, I learned that I did not do up to the mark for 1 round and just because of that I got rejected. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I understand there is a little bit of luck involved in the interviews, but what if this happens every time? I will never be able to switch. On top of that, I am losing opportunities. Google has 6 months cool down period, Meta and NVIDIA has 1 year cool down period. I cannot stay at Intel for 1 more year. I don’t know how to end this. What do you guys think? How can I improve? What should I change? YOE: 4 TC: 23LPA base, +QPB/APB/LTRCA, $12000 stocks #hardware #interview #semiconductor

Try moving to a group at Intel where you will learn something and keep interviewing from there ... The book knowledge is great but there will be so many gaps without hands on experience...
I was thinking of doing that but I don’t know of any teams that are doing good work.
The client groups are doing decent work...Most Gr 5 and 6 are swamped with work in the USA...Fair warning that interesting work will come with a not so great WLB ...
Market is not good, each and every company is taking lot of interviews for single position. It's long queue
I know right! One mistake and you are out. Breaks the will.
Yes 💯
You did the most part required for your next job. Luck plays the major part in any interview. You only have to succeed once. Keep at it. I have a success rate of 80% - Failed 2 of the last 10 interviews. Those two failed ones are the among the first. Make sure to note down tricky questions whenever you see them anywhere. Keep a note of questions asked to you or your friends. Address your flaws in previous interviews. HW interviews are repetitive and it gets lot easier with more interview experience . Keep your BAR high for what you consider good interview performance and be critical of everything. I interview candidates for my team on a regular basis. Dm me if you need more guidance. Good luck!
Hi, are you in design or verification? I might also use some help/guidance, can I DM as well?
DMed you, thank you!
I feel you OP. In almost same boat. Ido think I performed really well in those interviews. But sucks to not to get an offer. I know I did well. I don’t believe if any of the interviewer were on my side they would have performed as well. Sometimes you just know. Well atleast that’s how I feel. Clearly something is missing.
That “something is missing” is what’s frustrating me. I don’t know what’s missing. I want to work on it but I don’t know how. I posted this in hopes that someone would be able to help.
You and I brother / sister are in the exact same spot. I also have been thinking how can I get some feedback from interviewers. I can’t figure out what to work on to improve.

Keep at it, just about timing and practice. You'll eventually crack it
I know man, I am always trying to look at the brighter side. I know hard work never goes to waste but there’s a limit to it I guess. Thank you for your kind words though.
