AI will change the world in incredible ways in a matter of a few years. Regardless of the outcome, if you are 10-50 years old you won the lottery: - if we end up with a utopia, we'll get to enjoy it and remember the archaic times we live in today, being able to appreciate it even more. People will say "do you remember in 2025 you could actually die of cancer?! Crazy right? And people didn't even live 200 years!" Like people before antibiotics but 1000x - if we end up in a dystopia, we'll get to live most of our lives at the peak of human civilization before it'll be gone If you believe AI is over-hyped you are in denial and delusional. Today AI is like the first computers, taking 5000sq rooms and looking very impractical. But in a few years it'll be like smartphones today (actually it can come to your smartphone overnight). We're still in exponential acceleration of progress and this doesn't include general AI, only following -order "dumb" AI TC 450k
You are wrong, gen ai has serious limitations and the general market is only now coming to realize this. We are in an AI bubble. AGI is still over a decade away (at minimum, likely several decades) and that is what is required to have the transformational impact you are describing.
What are gen ai limitations I'm missing? In my point of view, gen ai is bridging the gap between human interface and technology. We already have incredibly powerful machines, but the bottle neck has always been the human element. If you give humans a powerful interface like llm = hardly any limit in what you can do with current technologies (robot, education, healthcare, development, etc...)
AI is really limited on what it can do. It's great for small tasks but it has lots of problems with anything else. It will be a while before this changes. It's hard to say if the bubble will burst or not. I'm thinking that it will burst I do believe so far, we are the luckiest generation, though. We have easier jobs than people of the past
AI is very limited still, but the thing is it'll enable anyone to use efficiently and quickly current technologies. Imagine every biology research being able to use AI, human productivity will 1000x The first wave of AI will just be solving easy tasks given from humans. But this will already have an insane impact. Imagine a tech person building a startup, being able to have HR, accounting, marketing and Sales ai automated in a week
Ai definitely can reduce earning power of lot of roles. In the sense we are a lucky generation.
I was promised a car that could drive itself 10 years ago and I still don’t have it yet. AI is promising and will one day be good, but at its current stage, it is way overhyped
Self driving cars were always a useless bs. A bunch of resources were thrown in the wrong direction. Once a good ai will be created for self driving, it'll drive any car
Same as crypto
