Early morning musings. What’s the equivalent of faang companies in Australia. And is anyone hiring?
Amazon
Microsoft have some offices in Australia
FAANG is an acronym used by wallstreet specifically for Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google so FAANG remains exactly these companies, they do not mean something else in a different country. If you are asking good tech companies in Australia then there are many, including: Amazon Google Microsoft Telstra Atlassian Slalom Contino DXC
Telstra is a joke, and Slalom, Contino, DXC are just IT providers/outsourcing places who do a lot of labor hire. There's no high level tech scene in Australia. An occasional (rare) interesting start up, but enterprise scale is complacent, barely competent bureaucracy. Atlassian, Canva are the big names. Maybe Airwallex. But if you're serious about a tech career and want to make money solving hard problems you're best placed to move to the USA.
There used to be WAAX stocks in Australia. Wise Tech, Afterpay, Appen, Altium.
