I left IBM 2 months back. Now, I work for Nordstrom. I’m on H1-B. The work is okay here, but pay is good compared to IBM. The day after I joined Nordstrom, I got an offer from FB. I accepted the offer since I really want to work there. A few days back, FB lawyer sent me H1-B visa file receipt. FB recruiter has asked me to join on receipt. Is it worth taking the risk? What’s the best way to postpone and join once I get visa approval if in case it’s possible.
I'd say join. Or wait till Jan mid. Uscis will announce if premium will open.. It might not open, in that case it'll make your choice a bit easier since you can't wait 6-8 months till approval comes.. But risk is less unless your degree is in some non cs field.
Did they ask you join on receipt. I have given option of joining on receipt or wait approval. I did clarify even before onsite. Google recruiter and linkedin said they won't wait until approval. Uber, Fb, Amazon ready to wait. So I have postponed indefinitely for linkedin and google. Gone ahead with facebook and amazon.
It’s news to me that FB is willing to wait. My recruiter didn’t say firmly either way, but I will ask her to see if they can wait. Is your FB recruiter ready to wait 3-4 months just in case?
Yes. I am interviewed for gen SWE.
