I recently got a conditional offer from Facebook as a data specialist . my current compensation at eBay is 95k base with 25k RSUs. Facebook HR wanted a ballpark of my expectations before they evaluate my profile and make final decision . I nether want to overstate nor understate my expectations . I emailed with 125k base and around 50k RSUs. I recently saw a spreadsheet where FB pays 100k RSUs to level 5. did I fk it up ? I don't want my bad eBay compensation affect my future company's compensation .
@rt . thanks man . any idea what shouldve been the total compensation ? And ya, totally fucked up the negotiation by anchoring.
I don't for that job ladder sorry.
Would you be a level 5 though? From your current pay scale you seem to be more along lines of e4
not sure how the levels are arranged . hr gave me a heads up that it might be a level 4 or if deemed suitable , a slight chance for level 5. I think I might end up being at 4 , considering I have an overall industry experience of 3 years
Yeah - I don't know you obviously but unless you have done some ridiculously amazing stuff and interviews went extremely well, level 5 might be difficult . I have been here for a few months and coming in at level 4 might be good
so one thing is clear , I'll get into a level 4 position ( and I'm pretty average , no big achievement ) What do you think is a good benchmark of compensation at level 4 at Facebook ? especially rsu wise
uhh, hope that's not the case and we have not begun hiring "pretty average" people ;)
haha haha . thanks for the moral boost . ;)
Around 120k or so...rest would be depending on your negotiation but I have seen that FB will not try to undermine you just because you said 50...I have seen that with 1-2 other candidates and they will offer in a fair range...you might lose out a bit as you have anchored yourself but don't worry about it too much
Awesome . thanks :) .
I assumed you interviewed for data scientist? Is that right
Yes you fucked up and anchored the negotiations now. The only way to overcome that is to get competing offers and be calm but transparent about it.
