Any e4's at FB care to explain the day to day?
That’s a really broad question. Anything specific we can answer? I’ve been an E4 and now manage them, so happy to answer any questions.
I guess how do you measure impact? Is it based on number of features being shipped (product engineer)? Expectation to impact team? If i help interviews and mentoring will that affect performance review? What other factors besides deliverables that are considered to get myself promoted to E5?
It’s very much anchored on value to the team and business, much more so than # of features landed. E4s are generally expected to take on a higher complexity and scope of work than E3s (features and projects, not tasks), to be independent and to be able to self-unblock. We like to see some emerging aspects of leadership — technical, project, or people based.
